Registration Floaters

Purpose: To ensure all event attendees make it through registration with ease.

Position Description: Registration Floaters will be assigned to fill openings due to cancellations, unfilled positions and other staffing needs. Excellent communications skills required. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with the event committee, attendees, and other volunteers.

Time Commitment: Morning of October 14

 

Registration Greeters

Purpose: To ensure all event attendees feel welcome and make it through registration with ease.

Position Description: Registration Greeters are responsible for making event attendees feel welcome and manage the flow of incoming attendees. In this front-line position, you will be expected to greet all patrons with excellent customer service. Registration Greeters will be greeting event patrons outside of the theater as well as working inside. You must be well-informed on all aspects of the festival as you will need to be able to answer any question an attendee has, or, if unable to answer the question, know where to find the answer. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with the event committee, attendees, and other volunteers.

Time Commitment: Morning of October 14

 

Theater Gatekeepers

Purpose: To ensure event attendees are welcomed to the event and directed to the appropriate location for check-in.

Position Description: Theater Gatekeepers are responsible for making event attendees feel welcome and managing the flow of incoming attendees. In this front-line position, you will be expected to greet all patrons with excellent customer service. The building has limited capacity, which means the front door positions will be monitoring the number of attendees in the building. Excellent communications skills required. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with the event committee, attendees, and other volunteers.

Time Commitment: Morning of October 14

 

Dress Rehearsal Gatekeepers

Purpose: To ensure speakers and committee members are able to access the Victoria Theatre during the dress rehearsal time.

Position Description: The Dress Rehearsal Gatekeepers are responsible for monitoring the exterior door to the theater, which will be secured otherwise. They will allow speakers and committee members to enter throughout the day. The Dress Rehearsal Gatekeeper must be reliable and able to remain firm in only allowing necessary personnel access.

Time Commitment: October 14, all day

 

Break volunteer

Purpose: To assist with any break activities and guide event attendees out of the theater and back to their seats within the time allotted for break.

Position Description: Break volunteers will help manage the flow of event attendees in and out of the theater during the designated break time. They will also help distribute any snacks and facilitate any activities during the allotted time. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with the event committee, attendees, and other volunteers.

Gift volunteer

Purpose: To facilitate the distribution of event attendee gifts.

Duties: Gift volunteers will help distribute any giveaway items we will provide to event attendees at the end of the event. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with attendees and other volunteers.

Time Commitment: Late afternoon October 14

 

Food and Beverage Escorts

Purpose: To ensure event attendees get safely from the Victoria Theatre to the designated lunch location.

Position Description: The Food and Beverage Escort will manage the flow from the Victoria Theatre to the designated lunch location, assisting with traffic along the route, meal picking and beverage service. These volunteers will help remove TEDxDayton materials from lunch spots.  These volunteers need to be extremely outgoing and creative to get attention and herd guests from one location to another. In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with the event committee, attendees, and other volunteers.

Time Commitment: October 14, 10:00 am – 2:00 pm

 

Food and Beverage Helpers

Purpose: To ensure beverages and food are available to event attendees at designated times throughout the day.

Position Description: The Food and Beverage Helper will assist the Food and Beverage Supervisor throughout the day by making sure food and beverages remain stocked and are available at specific times during the day. These volunteers need to be organized, able to follow directions, and stay calm in a busy environment.

Time Commitment: October 14, 8:00 am – 1:00 pm and 12:00 pm – 5:00 pm

 

Hype Event Volunteers

Purpose: To ensure hype events leading up to the main event run smoothly.

Position Description: Hype Event volunteers will be assigned to help at events around the Dayton area designed to engage the community with the TEDxDayton brand and event. As hype event dates and details are determined, more information will be available.

Time Commitment: TBA, Events will likely occur on weekends or weekday evenings
