Important Information for TEDxDayton 2014 Ticket-Holders

The TEDxDayton 2014 team is excited to share this celebration of Dayton’s “ideas worth spreading.” If you’ve received confirmation of your registration, you will need this information to navigate your way through a day of exploring, exchanging and excitement.  TEDxDayton Press Release for Ticket Launch

Tickets will not be available at the door. TEDxDayton 2014 is completely sold out.

Venue: The event will take place at the Victoria Theatre (138 N. Main St. Dayton, OH).

Parking:

The Transportation Center Parking Garage (22 E. Fifth St.) will reserve 700 spaces for TEDx parking. Cost is $4.00 for the day. An RTA shuttle will run from the Transportation Center to the Victoria from 8:00am-9:15am, and again from 4:00pm-6:30pm. Pickup and drop-off points are at the corners of Fifth/Main and First/Main. The walk from the Transportation Center is about five blocks, and takes 10-15 minutes if you’d like to get some exercise. For further directions, see the Victoria Theatre website (www.victoriatheatre.com)

Registration:

Registration opens at 8:30am. Please arrive early enough to pick up your name badge and program at the registration desk. You do not need a printed ticket to retrieve your name badge. Once you have your name badge, we invite you to enjoy coffee, mingle, use the rest room, and find your seat. Coat check will be available. All guests must be seated by 9:00am.

Open seating:

Whether you are seated in the balcony or in the orchestra, we encourage you to sit in different places throughout the day. We will have a packed house, so expect to move in and move up to make room for more people.

Breaks:

Two breaks, one in the morning and one in afternoon, will give you a chance to stretch your legs, use the restrooms, and enjoy snacks and fun activities. Of course, you may exit and enter between talks if the need arises.

Lunch:

A delicious box lunch will be available during our noon break. After the final morning talk, we will all parade quickly across the street to the Wintergarden in the Schuster Center where you will pick up your food and seat yourselves. Activities and music will accompany our meal. All restrooms at the Schuster will be open for your convenience. Talks will resume at the Victoria promptly at 1:00pm.

Explore, Exchange, and Excite:

Please consider sitting next to and engaging in conversations with strangers throughout the day. TED events build community and offer opportunities for people from many disciplines to engage and collaborate around new ideas. Take advantage of that!

One request:

Because this event sold out so quickly, many people who wanted to come won’t be able to. So if your boss told you to come, or if you’re under some other obligation to come, and you’re not excited about it, please consider releasing your ticket to someone else who really wants to attend this incredible event. The success of TEDxDayton is the result of what each participant brings to the day.

After–party:

After the event, we invite you to walk just a block away to the Kettering Tower lobby to mingle with new friends, old friends, and speakers. The after-party will start at 4:00pm, right after the last presentation, and last until about 6:00.

Finally…

We’ve worked hard to provide you with an experience that will excite you into exploring new ideas and exchanging with others your enthusiasm and willingness to go forth and explore them. We thank you for adding your energy and time to this special day, and we hope you come away with ideas for taking action in the community around you. Thank you for attending TEDxDayton 2014!

WHAT IS TEDx

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TED has created a program called TEDx. TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. Our event is called TEDxDayton, where x = independently organized TED event. At our TEDxDayton event, TEDTalks video and live speakers will combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events, including ours, are self-organized.
